Check out our new music room! We are so fortunate to have more space! Ironically, the classroom theme for 2008-09 is Space, thus the stars, constellations, and planets you see hanging everywhere. Our new music technology lab is attached to the back of the music room and houses our VH1 keyboard lab as well as new iMacs recycled by Mr. Cordova! Harrington kids are so lucky!!

iMovie Composer Projects

In two fifth grade classes last year (2005-06), students formed teams and studied classical and romantic composers. They found a MIDI file of the composer’s music, “updated” the music in Garage Band, found images of the composer on the Internet, and put the images and clips together in iMovie.

Dear Mrs. J – Your site is awesome! Thank you for putting it out there.

I teach middle school music in Springfield, MA. This is my first year in the school, which is a pretty rough urban school. I have brought in my laptop and let some of my students work with GarageBand. They really respond well to the program. How did you get set up with such a nice technology lab? Did you apply for grants? I would like to get some Macs with GarageBand for my classroom, but only have a budget of $1500 per school year. Any advice you have would be great.

    Thanks, Eric

    Hello Mrs. J,
I am very much appreciating your site/blog.
If you would, please pass on to the composer of “CLAUDIA 2 BY 3″ that I really liked the composition. There were a lot of different parts, but they connected together nicely. I especially liked the “C” section. Was that the composer playing? Very nice! We’re talking about it in a discussion on my educational blog site if you’re interested in visiting. Here’s the address:
