Welcome to the New, but not yet improved, Urbanmusiceducation.org!
Welcome to urbanmusiceducation.org! I am in the process of re-designing the site in a blog format as the former php format was getting stale and unusable. After careful evaluation of the site, I came to the realization that the site needed major overhauling and a vision in order to survive otherwise it needed to get deleted. And so, my goals for the site are as follows, not in order of priority:
1.) create an atmosphere of helpfulness, collegiality, and an outlet for ideas and solutions within the realm of urban music education.
2.) provide a resource for music teachers through linked lesson plans, forms, and other helpful documents.
3.) open an arena for discussion, rants and raves surrounding issues of urban teaching and music/arts education.
As it stands, the “old” site is deleted and re-creation has begun with this post. I will try to make it a habit of posting weekly to the site and adding documents when I have time beginning with the prior documents housed on the site. Feel free to e-mail me if you don’t see something you saw before and were using. It is likely it is still housed on my computer and I can e-mail quicker than I can provide links for downloading.
Thanks for stopping by to visit, and come back often! I plan to make this site renewed, revived and refreshed!
Musically Yours,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,
Welcome to the blogosphere. Thanks for posting.
I’m not sure if my teaching situation could be considered “urban,” but it’s definitely low-income, so we probably face some similar issues. Lately, I’ve been trying to keep my posts more general, but I’ll try to write a little more for people in situations like ours.
