About

UrbanMusicEducation.org is the home of the Weblog of Sarah Johnston, Urban Music Educator, Elementary Music and Orff Specialist, Mom of two beautiful daughters, and avid advocate for music education in urban environments. It is my hope that this site will serve as a place for discussion and exploration of issues related to urban music teaching at all levels. I will periodically be providing materials I create for my classrooms to share and blog about happenings at my school as well as things that are relevant to me and this site. Thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave a comment!

You can contact me through e-mail, or visit my personal page on MySpace.

I also have a blog for technology at my school which you can access at http://harringtontechtalk.edublogs.org.

I serve as the webmaster for the following sites:

Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association

Harrington Elementary School

I’m reading your site occasionally. i have a heavy interest in urban music and education. I teach in mostly inner city schools where music programs are either ineffective or nominal in results, particulary at the secondary level.
